Call for pitches – ENTR
We are commissioning pitches to video-reporters and filmmakers in Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland for a series of shorts docs (approx. 10 mins) for the ENTR.en Youtube channel.
What is ENTR?
ENTR is a multilingual video project involving media partners from across the European continent. Spearheaded by Deutsche Welle and France Médias Monde, ENTR offers video content for 18-to 34-year-olds on a variety of topics.
Are We Europe is commissioning short docs from the Nordic countries of Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland. They should explore thought-provoking topics that are specific to each of these countries but are of interest to a young and diverse audience across different European countries.
ENTR stories are:
- Character-led: Your story should have a strong protagonist, aged 18-34, whose personal story speaks of a broader topic / phenomenon of interest to the ENTR audience
- Interesting to a young audience: Why & how does your story affect people between 18-34 years?
- Thought-provoking: What’s unique about the angle & context of your story? How would your story differ from stories outside the Nordic region? What might make your story relevant beyond the Nordic region?
Editor’s brief
From the die-hard tradition of pigeon racing to life on the margins of Europe’s biggest rubbish dump, ENTR videos explore thought-provoking topics that are relevant to a young, pan-European audience, through the eyes of the people at the centre of these stories.
ENTR reports cover climate, employment, solidarity, culture, emerging technologies and more. They are designed to foster dialogue about the main concerns of Europe’s young generation (18-34 years old), while embracing everything that makes them different and to nurture the awareness of their European identity.
For a better idea of the topics we cover and the sorts of angles we’re after, please take a look at our English Youtube channel. For more information about the project and our partners, see the project website.

Call for pitches – Borderlines
We’re commissioning pitches for audio-first, multimedia stories for a series we’re developing called Borderlines. We welcome all voices, and particularly encourage young people to pitch!
We’re accepting pitches on a rolling basis. As long as the call is up, then it’s still open.
What is Borderlines?
Borderlines is an audio-first, multimedia podcast series of 6-8 stories based on the personal narratives of people living along the borders separating different European countries from each other. In a continent increasingly shaped by hardening nationalisms, these stories explore the places where different European identities meet, merge and mix.
Editor’s brief
The June 2024 European parliamentary elections mark a decisive moment for Europe. With polls predicting that far-right, nationalist and Eurosceptic parties will gain seats at the expense of centrist groups, the future of Europe is at risk of fragmentation, nationalism and hardening borders. Nationalist narratives often define themselves in opposition to European identity. But just what is “European identity”, exactly? Does it really exist at all? And, if it does exist, is it really in conflict with national and regional identities, or is it connected to them in some way?
If there are answers to these questions, then where better to look for them than in the places where different identities — national, cultural, linguistic and imagined — meet, mix and merge? Places shaped by movement and exchange, by romance and relationships, by history and trauma, by shared hopes and a common sense of the future.
From the waters of the Mediterranean to the invisible Irish border, from the transnational Sápmi territory to the Istrian peninsula — Borderlines explores Europe through the eyes of people living in the in-between spaces where countries and cultures meet. These in-between spaces reveal borders — and identity — to be changeable and porous.
Together, these stories build up a rich mosaic of possible tomorrows for a continent in flux.
We call these places, Borderlines.
